A ‘Yellow Vests’ protest turned violent in the French central city of Bourges on Saturday, as the movement took to the streets for the ninth week in a row across the country.

Clashes erupted between the protesters and the police, who fired teargas and used flash-ball weapons against the crowds after the authorities warned that a “zero tolerance” approach would be used in the upcoming protests.

Benches, urban furniture and parking metres were removed earlier by the local authorities to avoid violence, while public buildings and gardens were closed and all gatherings were banned.

This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

But you forget the fact that i’m from the UK Daesh and not Iran. Be honest with yourself the EU is as corrupt as anywhere in the world apart from the US, and will collapse as soon as brexit comes into force.Germany is the only strong democracy here and France has a civil war raging out of control, rumour has it arms are being smuggled in by the IRGC to take advantage of the unrest, a sort of payback for the same thing that was done to Syria. You best man the barricades, but i suggest you join the uprising… Read more »

“It is narrated on the authority of Ibn ‘Umar (‘Abdullah b. ‘Umar) that the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) observed: Verily Islam started as something strange and it would again revert (to its old position) of being strange just as it started, and it would recede between the two mosques just as the serpent crawls back into its hole.” – Sahih Muslim Book 1 Hadith 271 => Here’s the future for bigots like you, courtesy of your own “prophet” : receding between Mecca and Medina… A small 339km long strip between Mecca and Medina. Actually, Ibn Zubayr hadn’t… Read more »

est338laputa : let us laugh! 1. We have no regime here, we’re a democracy, unlike the perfidious system your masters in Tehran have put up. 2. Protests are a national sport in France. Street battles with the police are seen as a rite of passage to adulthood by many, including myself, I did this too when I was young BTW. 3. French Republic is clearly a Free-Mason thing, as the constitution proves it. Zionists are not in charge here and BTW, there is no more Zionists until May 14th 1948 since Zionism goal was the re-creation of Israel and they… Read more »
