BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:40 A.M.) – A new video released on saturday showed the Syrian Arab Army’s elite Tiger Forces seizing the strategic Huwayz area in the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.
In the video, the Tiger Forces can be seen breaking through the jihadist lines in Huwayz, resulting in the eventual capture of the three towns in this imperative area along the Hama-Idlib border.
The Syrian Arab Army had previously tried to capture the Huwayz on two separate attempts before finally fracturing the jihadist lines along the Hama-Idlib axis.
Since capturing Huwayz, the Syrian Arab Army’s advance has mostly been forestalled due to the Turkish diplomatic pressure on their Russian partners inside of Syria.
Turkey has even sent in reinforcements to the northwestern region of Syria to prevent the Syrian Arab Army and their allies from pushing further into the Idlib Governorate.
A temporary ceasefire was announced in the area on Saturday; however, this would only last for a short while, as both warring parties later traded attacks in this region.
The Syrian Arab Army began their offensive in northwestern Syria in early May and since then, they have seized several areas from the jihadist forces, including the strategic towns of Kafr Naboudeh and Qal’at Al-Madiq.
