DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:20 P.M.) – For almost two weeks, up to 200 Syrian Army soldiers have been besieged by Islamist rebels who attacked the Vehicle Base in Harasta suburb in east Damascus before the blockade was lifted two days ago.

During that time, dozens of Army troops were killed and wounded while fighting off the fierce offensive, others were even captured by the militants.

In a video recently released on social media, a local activist showed how the Syrian forces attempting to break the siege used cannon shells to send food supplies to the encircled troops.

The footage features several soldiers stuffing a hell cannon shell – after empting it from explosives – with food, and then fire it into the besieged base.

Last Sunday, the government forces managed to reach out for the embattled soldiers inside the Vehicle Base following ferocious battles with jihadi militants.
