The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) carried out an operation to “expose and destroy” cross-border tunnels allegedly built by Hezbollah near the northern Israeli town Metula, the military announced on Twitter on Tuesday.
Standing at the Lebanon-Israeli border, IDF spokesperson Jonathan Conricus stated, “that Lebanese town just behind me is a town called Kfarkela from which Hezbollah has been using civilian infrastructure to dig tunnels from Lebanon into Israel, violating Israeli sovereignty and UN Resolution 170.”
Concricus said that the operation won’t stop “until we are confident that all of the attack tunnels that Hezbollah has tried to dig have been dealt with and there are no more threats to Israeli civilians.”
