This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

No one here in South America supports Maduro, he is a bloodthirsty dictator, and for the first time I support US intervention. Maduro must fall!

Shekels have no use in this region. You must really be drunk on racist propaganda to issue something in this range. Actually, Israel is the best chance for the Middl-East, especially since oil soon will be dry and in the “Ant and the Grasshopper” Aesope’s fable, Israel is the Ant and Arab nations are the Grasshopper (although UAE are doing well at preparing the post oil transition, but they’re the only ones!)

After Operation Condor and its hundreds of thousands “disappeared”, nobody sane in South-America should support US actions here too…

The Monroe doctrine with supports to niiiice people like Pinochet, Galtieri, Stroessner, Duarte, etc… not speaking about the shït they made in Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, El-Salvador) all make Maduro look like a pretty nice guy compared to US actions on countries they see as banana-republics.
Trump won’t MAGA by copying on Nixon in Latin America

Note, I’m not a fanboy for Maduro, in fact, considering that Venezuela is a long time kleptocracy and having had right-wing or left-wing leaders changed nothing about it, so there is nothing to hope for the populations while an US intervention would probably cause a few tens of thousands deaths… An the ‘Global Energy Dominance’ the Yanks wish is not in the interest of the rest of the world… If they want to remove a really nasty regime, Iranian lousy mullahs have regime change as a long overdue… And these creeps are real bloodthirsty fascists.
