BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:10 P.M.) – The U.S. favors the Turkish Armed Forces taking over the Euphrates River Valley region, despite the latters opposition to the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) claimed.

“Reliable private sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the leadership of the United States of America, is seeking to hand over the entire east of Euphrates area; and leave it to its destiny which it has prepared to and continues to prepare with Turkey,” SOHR alleged in a new report.

According to the SOHR report, the U.S. is seeking to hand over the region “by pushing Turkey to impose its full supervision over the area, which extends from the outskirts of Manbij to the Syrian-Iraqi border, under the name of ‘self-administrative area,’ run by the Kurdish National Council in Syria and with a military deployment of the forces of ‘Rojava Peshmerga’ and an administration belongs to the National Coalition and it will include all components of the area, and it will be under direct Turkish supervision.”

Furthermore, the SOHR claimed that the U.S. was taken aback by the SDF’s approach to seeking assistance from Damascus.

“The Syrian Observatory also learned that the United States did not expect at all that the Syria Democratic Forces may approach the regime and begin consultations with it and with the Russians, in order to reach a consensus on the future of the east Euphrates area, of which Turkey aspires to control,” they added.

l would have thought the SDF/Kurds would have been talking to the Syrian Government/Russia a lot earlier. I think they never thought the US Administration would betray them to their mortal enemy, the Turks.
Still better late than never…..

Totally illogical and untrue. Totally in contradiction with US policies to date, illogical as RPM only number some 5k fighters, ill trained and without heavy arms and not battle hardened.

Contrary also to rump threatening Turkey this morning.

Lastly, US was not surprised by SDF talking to Assad. Local commanders encourages the talks even. Anybody could see this coming as SDF has always srared to be part of Syria.

Absolutely. SOHR is a single dude typing from the cave of his clothes shop in Coventry, UK. Most of his “informations” come from his contacts into FSA and Nusra/HTS… Thus it’s probably just repeating the narrative Turkey tells to its puppets in Syria and this is obviously pure wishful thinking from Turks. I also highly doubt that SDF/YPG would accept Turkish rule and these have a nice stockpile of Milan ATGMs, courtesy of France and Germany. Knowing that some TOW already lit up some Turkish Leopard2 tanks (they haven’t the strongest armour in the Leopard2 series, far from it) and… Read more »
