BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:50 P.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Tuesday morning that their troops would resume their offensive against the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Deir Ezzor countryside.

This statement by the Syrian Democratic Forces’ command comes just days after their troops came under attack by the Syrian military in the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

Earlier this year, the SDF were on the offensive against ISIS in eastern Deir Ezzor; however, the Turkish-led Afrin operation forced them to redeploy troops to this front in order to aid the YPG fighters there.

The SDF will likely concentrate on the Islamic State’s presence near the Syrian-Iraqi border, which has been the location of the terrorist group’s recent expansion.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.
