BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:15 P.M.) – The U.S. Coalition attack on the pro-government forces in the Deir Ezzor Governorate last week killed many Russian fighters in the area, a military source told Al-Masdar News.

According to the military source, the Russian fighters were embedded with the pro-government ISIS Hunters and Al-Baraka tribesmen near the imperative town of Khasham in eastern Deir Ezor.

The first two identified Russian fighters were identified as Vladimir Loginov and Kirill Ananiev; however, since then, many others have been reported dead.

Russian private contracted fighters are prevalent in eastern Syria because of the large number of oil and gas fields that have been recently restored by the Syrian government and Russian military.

The Russian private contracted fighters are often tasked with protecting local sites alongside the ISIS Hunters, who are made up of Syrians from several areas across the country, including the predominately Christian city of Suqaylabiyah.

Below are some of the pictures released recently on social media of the Russian private contractors killed by the U.S. airstrikes:

In my opinion Russia is showing too much self restraint to the blatant US and Israeli aggression against Russian interests and of course the direct and indirect roles they have played in the killing of Russian soldiers.

Exactly they are measuring Russia’s resolve and they will keep poking to see how far they can get before a Russian reaction.

Either the SDF and PKK share the responsibility with the US for the deaths of those Russians or the US decided to go it alone.

How does Russia view these contractors? Are they there, with their lives in their own hands or does the Russian government feel obligated to be responsible for them? If they are there at the behest of the the RF and are paid by them, then I think the US just fucked up. If the Russians consider them just mercenaries and that their fate is their own, I think the Russians will still have some payback in mind. Either way, I think there will some dead US embeds going home soon. The Russians know that the US knew exactly who they… Read more »
