DAMASCUS, SYRIA (9:00 A.M)- Gaza is in a state of panic as Municipalities announced a 50% cut-down on services, this comes following Nizar Hijazi -head of Gaza City municipality- announced with other prominent Gazan figures, ‘a state of emergency’.
Head of Rafah Municipality, Sobhi Ridwan, said in a statement: “The donors who used to pay for the fuel stopped their payment since the start of this year.”
The Palestinian Authority are also yet to act, in providing for the Gaza Strip, instead they focus on pressuring Hamas to hand over complete control of Gaza to themselves.
In the past 3 months alone, Municipalities in Gaza have also taken a 30% pay cut from their employees.
Gaza has now attained a 50% unemployment rate and also contains a population, of which is 80% below the poverty line.
Roughly 51% of Gaza’s population is children, below the age of 18, they now face an uncertain future.
