BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:30 P.M.) – The UAE-backed forces scored a major advance in western Yemen, today, after a fierce battle with the Houthis inside the Hodeidah province.

Led by the Yemeni Republican Guard, the UAE-backed forces broke through the Houthis’ lines in southern Hodeidah, paving the way for their troops to enter the city for the first time.

As shown in the video below, the Yemeni Republican Guard can be seen entering Hodeidah after the Houthis retreated further into the city:

This is a major advance for the UAE-backed forces, as they had previously failed to enter the provincial capital on a number of occasions.

I wouldn’t count my eggs before they’ve hatched, Leith. You call that a major advance when in fact they’ve repeatedly entered the city only to get obliterated within hours. The Houthis are known for defending and pulling back until the enemy has been worn down to nothing. If the coalition can hold Houdeyda, then you can call it a major advance. Just beware this has happened already many times and it never ended well for the coalition.

Yes it now appears they were led into a trap . Instead of the rejoicing they are now running out of toilet paper with no chance of resupply..
