BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – The Turkish military killed seven fighters from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq on Tuesday, the state-owned Anadolu Agency reported.

According to the Anadolu report, the Turkish Air Force killed the 7 PKK fighters after launching a number of airstrikes over the Qandil Mountain region of northern Iraq.

They would add that the Turkish Air Force would also destroy ammunition stocks and PKK hideouts in the Qandil Mountain region.

Turkey has been targeting the PKK positions in northern Iraq for several months now, despite not having Baghdad’s approval to carry out such attacks.

The Turkish regime maintains that they are carrying out these operations to clear terrorist cells; however, they have been criticized by the governments of both Iraq and Syria for these incursions.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
