DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:15 A.M.) – An unconfirmed report from a Turkish news agency on Monday claimed that the Turkish Army has begun building a military base inside the town of Akhtarin in northern Aleppo.

While the Turkish Ministry of Defense has not made mention of this alleged military base, the Turkish Army does maintain a rather large presence inside this northern Aleppo town.

If this report proves true, this will be the Turkish Army’s first military base to be constructed inside of Syria.

The Turkish Army has been inside of Syria for over two months now, claiming that their forces are assisting rebel fighters against the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham” (ISIS).

Despite these claims that their forces are concentrated on ISIS, the Turkish Army appears to have their eyes set on PYD controlled Syria because of their constant attacks against the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

It is obvious that Turkey intends to remain permanently in northern Syria – they have clearly and in agreed co-ordination with NATO drawn a line along Latitude 36,5 degrees North. Look at the map and note that every declared strategic objective lies on or a few kilometers north of this line, from Afrin to the Euphrates. Turkey will not pull back its forces even one centimeter north of this parallel. They only have to take Manbij and Afrin to complete their goal. Now meanwhile Turkey uses its jihadi mercenaries and dogs-of-war to fight for al-Bab but this is just token,… Read more »

As far as I have been able to know from NATO corridors talk in Belgium, Erdogan is REALLY pissing them off and considered a serious trouble maker. BTW, it was publicly said that Turkish troops into Syria WERE NOT under NATO umbrella and Erdogan has been given the red light. All serious analysts consider that Turkey will find itself in a terrible quagmire doing this stupid game, moreover, all the Turkish army competent leadership has been jailed and replaced by incumbent AKP guys. 350 THK pilots have been jailed or dismissed, thus greatly diminishing the air-strikes capacity and the deployed… Read more »
