BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:45 P.M.) – Turkey has finalized their plans to build more ‘observation’ posts in northern Syria, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday.
Turkey has already established at least twelve agreed upon observation posts in the provinces of Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama.
The Turkish military has also constructed an illegal observation post inside the Jabal Al-Akrad region of the Latakia Governorate.
According to a source from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), these observation posts have allowed militants to launch attacks against their forces across northern Syria.
The timing of these new observation posts comes as the Syrian Arab Army prepares to kickoff their long-awaited offensive in the southwestern countryside of Idlib and northern Hama.
