BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:20 P.M.) – The Turkish authorities gave their allied militants in Syria German-made tanks, the German magazine Bild reported on Friday.

According to the report, the Turkish authorities supplied its allied militant forces like the so-called “Syrian National Army” (SNA) with the German-made Leopard-2 tank.

The German publication said that the Turkish-backed militants have even used these Leopard-2 tanks against the U.S. and German-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria.

One of the spokespersons for the Turkish-backed militants confirmed to the German publication that the tanks were being used by their forces. The spokesperson said: “Turkey provided us with military equipment including tanks.”

The Turkish military has been using the Leopard-2 tank since 2016; they have also supplied the militant forces inside Syria with these armored vehicles.

And Germany now boycotts arms trade with Turkey. Amusing from Bild : they were longtime into an anti-Assad/anti-Putin “crusade”, now they’re denouncing arms transfers to the very same thugs they supported for years.
Interesting…

at sweet r, years ago to Turkey. Turkey has Leopard 2 A4 and that version was build before March 1987 and Turkey received them soon after 2005.

Turkey was excluded from recent upgrades. Because the Sultan did not comply with the old EULA that excluded use other than defense.

p.s. And your country sells to all.

@ long live, German pre 1987 Leopard 2 A4 were sold years ago and Turkey was denied upgrades recently. So Turkey had to turn to better prostitutes such as the US, Russia, Ukraine, South Korea, China, France… Update Your knowledge.

Turkey signed end user agreements which the Sultan does not keep. So who is guilty but him? Slander Turkey not Germany!

Russia, China and South Korea are not exactly Western countries.

Fück You for Your UK style German bashing. Germany is the only country with high quality arms and restrictive sales policy.

Your country also sold weapons when it could. All do.

Even Turkey does not have the Leopard version depicted on the stock photo. And the carrier at the back has German markings.

p.s. Bild is no serious paper/source.
