BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:45 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their Russian allies are allegedly preparing to launch a big offensive inside the Idlib and Hama provinces of northwest Syria, the Sputnik News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The Arabic-language service of Russia’s Sputnik News Agency quoted a military source as saying that the Syrian Army has dispatched a large amount of military equipment and to the front-lines in both northern Hama and southern Idlib.
In particular, the article claimed that the Syrian Arab Army and their Russian allies have already begun making preparations to launch their offensive from the government stronghold of Mhardeh and nearby Al-Zalaqiyat.
It noted that the Syrian Army has recently heightened its military preparedness around the Hama and Idlib battlefields, adding that clearing these fronts are a high priority for Moscow and Damascus.
The Syrian Arab Army has made similar preparations to launch offensives in Hama and Idlib in the past; however, these operations are later canceled after Turkey reaches out to Russia about implementing ceasefires.
