BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:25 P.M.) – Information has been released on the Syrian Army’s current order of battle for the recently kicked-off operation to expel besieged rebel forces from the city of Ar-Rastan and its surrounding countryside.

According to Al-Masdar News sources, the main Syrian Army formation involved in and currently leading the new operation is the 11th Armored Division. It is being supported by various well-armed, seasoned units of the National Defense Forces (Syria’s national paramilitary).

Although having conducted operation across Syria since the beginning of the conflict, 11th Armored Division’s native area of operation is the provinces of Homs and Hama, quite literally between which Ar-Rastan sits.

Sources have also indicated to Al-Masdar News that additional Syrian Army formations are moving towards the Ar-Rastan front from other parts of the country – which ones exactly remains classified for now.
