BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:50 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their field operations in southern Syria this weekend, targeting the last areas controlled by the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization.

Backed by heavy airstrikes from the Russian Aerospace Forces, the Syrian Arab A rmy managed to score a big advance over the weekend after a series of intense clashes with the Islamic State.

Units from the Syrian Arab Army’s 3rd Armored Division were able to overpower the Islamic State terrorists near the Al-Safa Hills, giving them access to several parts of this large canyon in northeast Al-Sweida.

Unable to hold their first line of defense, the Islamic State terrorists were forced to retreat from several points around the Al-Safa Hills, resulting in a major advance for the Syrian Arab Army and their allies.

As shown in the video below, the Syrian Arab Army was able to sweep through a significant amount of territory in a short period of time:

The Syrian Arab Army has now liberated more than 100 square kilometers of territory in only a matter of 72 hours.

The Islamic State is now preparing to make their last stand against the Syrian Arab Army on the Al-Safa Canyon after suffering several major setbacks this weekend.
