BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:50 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a big attack aginst the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in the Al-Safa volcanic region of Al-Sweida, yesterday, targeting several areas controlled by the terrorist group.

Backed by the newly arrive 5th and 9th divisions, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the Islamic State positions at Al-Safa from the northeastern and southwestern axes of this vast volcanic region.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate more than 1 kilometer of territory inside the Qabr Sheikh Hussein area after a fierce battle with the Islamic State terrorists.

The source said that during the Syrian Arab Army’s operation, at least five soldiers were killed, including one officer, and another 3 dozen were wounded.

He would add that the Islamic State would suffer more than 15 casualties of their own before they would launched their counter-assault last night.

Below is a video that was released by Hezbollah’s official media wing; it shows the Syrian Arab Army advancing through this rugged terrain of the Al-Safa region:

Since making this advance, the Syrian Arab Army has found themselves on the defensive in the Al-Safa region, as several Islamic State terrorists storm the areas they recently liberated this week.

This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

The SAA should offer free water and safe passage to Idlib for those foreign based jihadis in Al Sweida. And perhaps a half oz of gold as well if they can prove they took out a recalcitrant jihadi stopping others from complying.

I’d rather use lead to pay them. No less than a 55 grains bullet in their heads…
