BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:50 P.M.) – The Islamist rebels launched a big assault on the strategic vehicle management base in eastern Damascus, yesterday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions at the eastern flank of the military installation.

Led by Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Faylaq Al-Rahman from the Madera axis, the Islamist rebels stormed the technical institute at the vehicle management base in a bid to alleviate the pressure on their forces in northern Syria.

However, despite the intensity of the attack, the Islamist rebels were unable to make any progress at the vehicle management base on Monday.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Islamist rebels lost several combatants and two tanks during the short-lived assault on the base.

Video footage of the Syrian Army repelling the attack was released by Hezbollah’s official media wing on Tuesday:
