BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:45 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has completely cutoff the militants from all supply lines in southern Idlib and northern Hama, a source from the military told Al-Masdar this evening.

According to the military source, the Syrian Arab Army forces at the Khan Sheikhoun front has met up with the troops near the town of Al-Ta’manah; thus, completing the encirclement of this region in northwestern Syria.

In addition to besieging the militants, the Syrian Arab Army has also cutoff the Turkish military at the Morek observation post from all of its supply roads.

The Turkish military will have to coordinate with their Russian allies because they are allowed access to the Hama-Idlib Highway, per the September 17th, 2018 Sochi Agreement.

At this time, the Syrian Arab Army is still clearing Khan Sheikhoun after entering the city from all axes.

Furthermore, the Syrian military’s 5th Corps and Republican Guard are advancing through the Al-Ta’manah area in a bid to secure the town and the remaining points under militant control.

As a result of this week’s gains, the Syrian Arab Army has scored a major victory against the jihadist rebels, who previously vowed to defend this region until the last man.

I am elated at this awesome victory from Syrian Arab Army. Salute. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Now Turki will have to fall at the feet of the Russians to seek their help to get the Turki soldiers out of this shithole situation which they have dug themselves in.

@ SD, Yes, true. It also pains me a lot & I know it will also pain a lot of well wishers of Syria, Syrian Arab Army SAA & Russians to note that SAA too lost a lot of soldiers in the line of duty in the recent months in their fight against the Jihadis War on Terror in the various battles being fought. Even there has been few Russians Soldiers KIA. I feel sad that young men sacrificed their lives for a better tomorrow for Syria. There is no news update about the captured Pilot. There were gruesome videos… Read more »

@LLS, Yes IMHO the sacrifices pain all. They were for humankind not only for Syria. While politicians in many Western countries miss the point that the Jihadi are no democrats but the enemies of democracy and civilization.

They are in no hurry to take back terrorists children. Not sure if this is because they realize the dangers or if it is unpopular and thus political suicide.

It was a rout and the Reprobates were sent to h**l for their dastardly deeds. Justice served. Peace to Syrians and may God lessen their burdens, heal the wounds, and grant them the grace to move forward with their lives.

This isn’t such a small victory.
After a very long virtual stale mate this is a major breakthrough.
It implies liberation of significant areas; a prerequisite for the taking of Idlib; Turkish observation points have been taken and the Turks have been forced to vacate them – that’s a major assertion of Syrian sovereign power; neither Turkey nor the US were able to bale their proxy-forces out; last but not least, the daily rocket attacks by ‘opposition’ militias on cities south of Hama has stopped, giving the civilian population the first respite in years.

My gut feeling is that Syrian Army & Government in consultation Russia with Turki will leave Idlib alone and wont attack to take it back. Right now the whole of Idlib is full of Syrian anti nationals civilians as well as Jihadis. People from Khan Shiekhoun, Lataminah & Jisr Al Shoughur and other smaller villages & towns who are Anti Assad, Anti SAA and Pro Jihad & Pro Turki have all escaped & run into Idlib which is under the control of HTS. Fighting HTS inside Idlib using heavy tanks & troops in a street to street battle will be… Read more »
