The Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), imposed full control over the village of Hawsh Al-Farah in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Tuesday night.
Accoridng to an Al-Masdar field correspondent in the Damascus area, the Syrian Armed Forces attacked Hawsh Al-Farah from two different axes before overrunning Jaysh Al-Islam’s (Army of Islam) defenses on Tuesday evening.
Hawsh Al-Farah was originally captured by the Syrian Armed Forces during their 2014 offensive in the East Ghouta; however, they would later lose this village after Jaysh Al-Islam and their affiliates launched a powerful counter-attack.
With Hawsh Al-Farah under their control, the Syrian Armed Forces will likely turn their attention to the hilltop village of Tal Kurdi, which is considered the gateway to the ‘industrial town of ‘Adra.
It is important to note that the Syrian Armed Forces were able to seize Hawsh Al-Farah and Al-Mayda’a without any assistance from the Syrian and Russian air forces.
