DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5:33 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army and allied militias managed to advance Aleppo’s southeastern countryside after heavy battles for the past three days.

As a result of the most recent advance, Rasm Al-Saiyalah and Abedah towns as well as all hills surrounding the two important towns have fallen in the hands of the loyalist forces. The attack was led by Syrian Army’s 5th Storming Corps, the Republican Guard and allied units including Hezbollah.

While all eyes are focused on the fierce clashes around Rahjan to the south, decisive battles are ongoing over dominance of the Al-Hoss Plateau west of Khanasser. If Syrian forces capture those rugged heights, they will have unchallenged fire control over thousands of kilometers squared in the vast Badiya plains separating Hama and Aleppo governorates.

In addition, the government forces will be able to outflank their jihadist foes in northern Hama bypassing the impregnable network of defense set up as a buffer from Idlib should they reach the prized crossroad town of Tal al-Duman positioned midway between Khanasser and the strategic Abu al-Duhour Airbase.
