BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:45 P.M.) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) resumed their offensive east of the Euphrates, today, after repelling the Islamic State’s (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) attempt to reenter Al-Shafah.

Backed by U.S. and French air strikes, the Syrian Democratic Forces resumed their offensive on Saturday by storming the Islamic State’s defenses south of Al-Shafah.

According to preliminary reports, the Syrian Democratic Forces managed to score a small advance near Al-Shafah after a short battle with the Islamic State terrorists in the area.

The Syrian Democratic Forces are attempting to advance south towards the key town of Al-Sousah, which is considered the Islamic State’s last stronghold in the Euphrates River Valley.

Since they launched their offensive in the eastern Euphrates, the Syrian Democratic Forces have managed to capture nearly the entire border region from the Islamic State.

The Islamic State is now bracing for their last stand as the Syrian Democratic Forces look to sweep these last towns in order to reinforce their front-lines with the Turkish-backed rebels.

SDF has to be commended for their perseverance. After sustaining losses of over 8.000 against IS during the years, they will destroy IS as a cohesive fighting force, where only sleeper cells remain, unless one counts those fighting for Turkey and those in the syrian Badiya.
