BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:20 A.M.) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) kicked off the last phase of their eastern Euphrates operation on Saturday, targeting the Islamic State’s (ISIS) positions at the town of Baghouz Tahtani.
Backed by heavy artillery and airstrikes from their French and U.S. partners, the Syrian Democratic Forces stormed the Islamic State’s positions in a bid to overwhelm the remaining terrorists in this Euphrates River Valley pocket.
So far, no major gains have been reported by the Syrian Democratic Forces; however, the Islamic State has been attempting to make several desperate crossings over the last 72 hours, indicating that they are trying to evade capture.
This operation was launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces after the latest round of talks collapsed between the latter and the Islamic State.
ISIS terrorists have refused to completely surrender in the eastern Euphrates region, despite being completely surrounded from all flanks.
