Four high-altitude MiG-31BM interceptor jets will go under the state defense order to the armament of the Central Military District (TsVO) before the end of the year, the press service of the district announced this morning..
“The new technology will be added to the air fleet of the 14th Air Force and Air Defense Army, and three aircraft will be supplied to the fighter regiment stationed in the Perm Territory, one to the regiment located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory,” the report said.
It is noted that the supersonic MiG-31BM fighter is designed for long-term patrolling and combating high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, strategic bombers and low-flying targets.
The aircraft is capable of simultaneously hitting six and escorting up to 10 air targets.
“Due to the modernization of the on-board radio electronic equipment and the new generation of weapons, the effectiveness of the MiG-31BM in comparison with the MiG-31 has increased almost threefold,” the press service added.
