DAMASCUS, SYRIA (12:35 P.M.) – In a rare photo op, the Taliban released a string of images on November 2 boasting a newly established assault group that is based around Laghman Province.
The seasoned jihadist fighters, dubbed the ‘Special Forces of Laghman’ by the Taliban, were shown wielding AK-47’s and different types of insignia before the camera:
Although mere speculation, these Taliban fighters will likely be deployed to retake lost turf in the neighboring Nangarhar Governorate which has gradually been transformed into a regional Islamic State stronghold over the past year.
In somewhat related news, at least 65 people were killed on Saturday by a massive Afghani air raid on Qatle Aam village near the city of Kunduz in northern Afghanistan.
Around a dozen Taliban members were also neutralized in the raid; however, many more civilians – women and children alike – were reported to have suffered the same fate due to the indiscriminate bombing.
