DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:55 P.M.) – A huge explosion ripped through Sarmada town in northern Idlib, completely destroying a building and claiming the lives of more than a dozen people.
The blast occurred when the basement, used as a weapon and ammunition depot, exploded; leveling to the ground a five-storey building.
Several al-Qaeda-linked militants were killed along with their families who were residing in the building.
The slain jihadists belong to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham jihadi group, who were evacuated from north Homs a few months ago.
The northwestern province has recently received tens of thousands of militants who engaged in evacuation deals with the Syrian government in Damascus, Homs, Daraa and Quneitra.
