BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:40 P.M.) – Italian vessel ”Commander Borsini” docked in the port of Tripoli, Friday, upon receiving the necessary permits from Libya’s UN-backed Government of National Accord.

The arrival of the patrol ship comes following a recent order by Libyan National Army (LNA) commander Marshal Khalifa Haftar to bar any foreign naval vessels, except for commercial ones, from entering Libyan territorial waters.

Haftar’s instruction was seen as a response to the Italian parliament’s decision to deploy Italian Navy ships into Libyan territorial waters as a part of the country’s efforts to curb the influx of migrants reaching the country via the Mediterranean.

It’s about Sovereignty not necessarily anti Italy. There is also a lot of ill feeling at the EU suggestion that to combat the cost of Migrant processing in Italy, that Libya should build huge camps in LIbya near the coasts and on the Sehel borders. People Smugglers who are involved in this are doing it to raise money for Mafias, and Terrorists and have chosen LIbya to do so because it is the entities that control the Capital Tripoli and Misrata that have been orchestrating it. Qatar US Base for example has laundered Arms to Libya at a rate of… Read more »
