BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:40 P.M.) – The Lebanese security forces busted an Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) sleeper cell inside the border-city of ‘Arsal, today, a military communique from east Lebanon read.

According to the communique, the Lebanese security forces received a tip from locals about a group of Syrians that were plotting to carry out an attack on an army checkpoint in the ‘Arsal District.

The Lebanese security forces not only foiled the plot, but they also arrested all of the Islamic State members that were active in this sleeper cell.

‘Arsal was partially controlled by the Islamic State and Jabhat Al-Nusra between the years of 2014 and 2018; however, it was later liberated by the Lebanese Armed Forces after a large-scale operation in east Lebanon.
