BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – The Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) carried out a new operation against the Turkish-backed rebels in the Afrin region of northwestern Aleppo this week.
Using a roadside bomb, the YPG sleeper cell in the Afrin region detonated the explosives and destroyed the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) military vehicle in the Shiya District.
“On October 9th, our units carried out a sabotage action targeting a military vehicle of the Fatih Sultan Mehmed Brigade mercenary fraction on the road leading to the village of Haj Hassna in Shiya district. As a result, two terrorists were killed. They were identified as Nihad al-Mahmoud and Nizar al-Idlibi,” the YPG said in a statement.
The YPG then added that they carried out two more operations against the Turkish-backed rebels on October 10th.
“On October 10th, our units carried out a sabotage action targeting a military vehicle of the al-Mutasim Brigade mercenary fraction on the road leading to the village of Dumila in Rajo district. As a result, a terrorist named Khalid Abdullah, originally from Idlib, was killed.
On the same day, our forces carried out a sniper action targeting one of the mercenaries of the Sultan Murad Division in the village of Der Belute in Jinderese district. As a result, a terrorist named Muhanad al-Hasan, originally from Idlib was killed.”
