BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels launched an offensive in northwestern Hama on Wednesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions at the town of Hamamiyat.

While the jihadist rebels were able to capture Hamamiyat, the attack proved to be incredibly costly for the militants, as dozens were reported dead or wounded.

According to a report from Hama, the two Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham emirs, Abu Hafez Kernaz and Qahoura Mahrouk, were killed during the attack on Hamamiyat last night.

In addition to the death of these commanders, the jihadist rebels lost over 25 militants during the attack on Hamamiyat.

Since capturing Hamamiyat, the jihadist rebels have attempted to seize nearby Kernaz, but they failed to do so, despite having the high ground.

The Syrian Arab Army is now preparing to storm the town in a bid to reverse the jihadist gains in northwestern Hama.
