BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:25 A.M.) – For the second time in the last 48 hours, the jihadist rebels have attacked Russia’s Hmeimim Airbase in southwestern Latakia.

According to a statement released by the jihadist group “Rouse the Believers”, their fighters fired a number of grad rockets towards the Hmeimim Airbase near coastal city of Jableh.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has yet to issue a statement about the attack; however, the jihadist grad rockets likely failed to reach their target, as the Russian air defenses at the Hmeimim Airbase have remained on high alert.

Since the start of August, the jihadist rebels have attempted to strike the Hmeimim Airbase on three separate occasions.

One of the occasions was reported by the Syrian Ministry of Defense shortly after the ceasefire deal was cancelled; it was later denied by the militants in the Idlib Governorate.

Thanks to Russia-Turkey agreement, terrorists can move freely on Idlib area and prepare any possible attack to Russia and Syria troops. Terrorists will try over and over again until they be successful. If Russia-Syria does not make any full offensive at Idlib this situation will continue for ever.

Terrorists will try over and over again until they… are all killed, and it’s on the way… Remember : the goal is not just to regain terrain : a Blitzkrieg would do this within a few day. The goal is that the terrorists don’t flee the conflict and die here, so you need to make them believe they have a chance to win : if they’re too desperate, they will disband, then do lonewolf stuff everywhere. or regroup somewhere else and here we go again. Another goal is to drive their sponsors out of money… And the economies of the… Read more »

If the Jihadis are using BM 21 Grad Rocket Launchers of old Soviet truck-mounted 122 mm multiple rocket launcher it has an effective range of 20 KM new generation of rockets can have range of 40 km. Russians would have sanitized over 50 KMs of the radius before they started operating the airbase. After firing the Grads and making nice promotional videos shouting TAKE BEER OLA UBER the Jihadis would have vanished!

This is obvious : they try to do some PR in order to show their sponsor in Qatar they’re still relevant.
