BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:10 P.M.) – The largest rebel faction in the East Ghouta region, Jaysh Al-Islam, has been strengthening their defenses in preparation for the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) upcoming offensive that will target the territory they control in east Damascus.

Jaysh Al-Islam possesses the biggest force in the East Ghouta and arguably the most experienced fighters in Syria, as their faction has been at war with the Syrian Army since the advent of this seven year long war.

With a large and complex network of tunnels stretching across the East Ghouta, Jaysh Al-Islam will be the Syrian Army’s toughest opponent during this offensive.

In addition to their military might, Jaysh Al-Islam also maintains a big support base in the East Ghouta; especially, in the city of Douma.

Douma will be the Syrian Army’s biggest challenge in the East Ghouta, as the city’s condensed neighborhoods and large concentration of Jaysh Al-Islam fighters will make advancing even more difficult.

Also saturate the area with bunker busting bombs and thermobarics to destroy tunnels etc.
