Tehran, Iran (3:15 P.M.) – The Iraqi government expelled on Friday the remaining members of the Mujahiddeen Khaliq Organization (MKO) that were living at Camp Liberty in Baghdad.
The anti-Iranian government group will reportedly be resettled in Albania, since they are designated as a terrorist organization in Iran.
According to Iran-based Tasnim News Agency, more than 280 members of the MKO lived at Camp Liberty before their expulsion on Friday.
“This final round of departures marks the successful conclusion to the process of relocating members of Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) outside of Iraq,” Tasnim News added..
“The international community has now successfully achieved the relocation of all Camp Hurriya (Liberty) residents from Iraq to third countries,” said William Spindler, the spokesman for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), on Friday.
155 MKO members were resettled in Albania earlier this year after U.N. groups worked diligently to find them a safe-haven.
