BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:20 P.M.) – Iraq’s Hashd Al-Sha’abi (Popular Mobilization Units) forces have entered eastern Syria and reinforced the border city of Albukamal, a Syrian military source told Al-Masdar News.
According to the SAA source, the Hashd Al-Sha’abi fighters are present on both sides of the Albukamal border. He added that they are working in conjunction with the Syrian military, Hezbollah, and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Hashd Al-Sha’abi currently possesses a large presence along the Syrian-Iraqi border; they have proven effective in blocking the Islamic State’s (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) fighters from crossing back-and-forth between the two countries.
The Iraqi group has also played a major role in the Islamic State’s downfall in Iraq, as their troops battled the terrorist organization all across the country.
