The ‘Global Coalition’, an axis that is formed to combat ISIS all over the world, consists of 66 partners, and is an important member and partner for Iraq, especially Spain. The ‘Global Coalition’ has stated that Spain has trained over 4,000 Iraqi soldiers, which is almost 20% of the total trained Iraqi military personnel who are prepared by the coalition.
The Spanish army provided the Iraqi army and its special forces training and education. The training is focused primarily on conventional warfare. The Iraqi Security Forces Infantry and Commando Brigades, Artillery, Medical and Engineering Units have received extensive training. The Spanish army has trained about 4,000 Iraqi soldiers, which is a significant amount as it adds to Iraq’s capacity to combat ISIS in Iraq.
In total, Iraq has added more than 20,000 army personnel who are extensively trained by the ‘Global Coalition’. The total amount of trained personnel is only going to increase, and most likely the graduates are going to fight in Mosul, as Haidar Al-Abadi has said that 2016 is the year that Mosul is going to be liberated from ISIS occupation.
