BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:40 P.M.) – In an exclusive report by CNN, a U.S. official alleged that Iran is moving its short-range ballistic missiles to the Persian Gulf waters.

The U.S. official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the reason for the U.S.’ recent decision to send an aircraft carrier group to the Persian Gulf was due to Iran’s alleged missile transfer.

The official alleged that Iran was preparing to launch an attack against the U.S. in the region, which is why the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln was deployed to the Persian Gulf waters.

Earlier in the week, U.S. national security adviser John Bolton said these reports were “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” but did not explain what they were.

Bolton said the deployment of this aircraft carrier group was a “clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on the United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”

Acting U.S. Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan told reporters at the Pentagon on Tuesday that he had approved the expedited movement of the Lincoln strike group and the deployment of a bomber group based on “credible reporting” on Iran.

“What you see is us getting in the right posture for that dynamic environment” in Iraq and elsewhere in the region, Shanahan said.

It’s more for the Aegis destroyers : RIM-161D block IA/B and block IIA “Standard Missile-3” is able to intercept any ballistic missile, even ICBMs (except when in mid-course, that’s why GMD has been developed) and LEO satellites too. Patriot PAC-3 (range 20km) and PAC-3 MSE (35km) only offer local protection and have a very short time to intercept, in case of miss, you don’t have a 2nd chance. THAAD ranges 240km and so offers a provincial protection. SM-3 block IA/B (900km) and block IIA (2500km) offer a country size protection while the smaller RIM-174 SM-4(160km) offers a fleet+small province protection,… Read more »

Iran gives Europe sixty days to step up to demands, or else… “Iranian media reported on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic was increasingly seeking to pressure European countries to come to terms with Tehran’s demands under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or ‘Iran Deal.’ Effectively Iran is saying that it is monitoring European actions over the next 60 days and that it is time for European countries to “fulfill their commitments” or Iran’s behavior could become “unpredictable.” Iran announced this week a partial withdrawal from the deal.” EU rejects any ultimatums : “We reject any ultimatums and we… Read more »
