BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – Iran has acknowledged that their forces bombed a Kurdish militant group in Iraq last week after video footage emerged of Iranian missiles striking the area.

According to the chief commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad ‘Ali Jafari, the Iranian forces carried out a retaliatory strike on September 8th against the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) in northern Iraq.

“IRGC’s recent revenge against the terrorists conveys a highly meaningful message to the enemies, particularly those superpowers who think they can impose their evil plots on us and bully us,” General Jafari said in a statement on Thursday.

As a result of this attack, at least 11 people were killed and another 20 more were wounded when seven short-range missiles struck the PDKI’s positions.

“The strike targeted a conference held by the political office of the party this morning,” Major General Jabbar Yawar, a spokesman for Iraq’s Kurdish Peshmerga security forces, said after the strike, according to Reuters.
