On Sunday morning, Houthi fighters and Yemeni popular committees managed to take control of a strategic military site in the Haifan District of the Ta’iz Governorate after fierce clashes against Coalition-backed Hadi forces.
According to Islah-affiliated “Al-Masdar Online,” the source said that the Yemeni Army & Houthi forces heavily shelled the Dhabi site in the Al-Aboos area, which is one of the most important military hubs for the Hadi loyalists.
The source pointed out that the Houthi forces also shelled Mt. Riyami, Al-Hitari, and Al-Jizb as well.
Another source stated that the Hadi loyalistss retreated from Dhabi after the Houthis dominated the village and its surrounding hills.
Currently, the Houthi forces are launching an important offensive that seeks to push west towards the Haifan district after overrunning several strategic hilltops in the nearby Al-Qabitah District.
The objective for the Houthi forces is to take control of the strategic town of Turbah, which will effectively cutoff the last supply line from Taiz to Aden and further isolate the Hadi loyalits in the provincial capital.
