BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – The battle for southwest Syria has recently taken a turn for the worse for the rebel forces, as they now find themselves fully besieged inside the provincial capital of Daraa.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their large-scale offensive around the provincial capital of Daraa, today, seizing several points from the rebel forces in the process.

As a result of this advance by the Syrian Arab Army, the rebel forces find themselves confined to an area of approximately 45 square kilometers.

According to a preliminary report from field journalists in Daraa, the rebels have agreed to reconcile with the government inside the provincial capital.

However, a military source with the 4th Division has denied this report, adding that clashes are still ongoing between the rebels and Syrian Army.

The source added that the rebels still control of the Daraa Al-Balad, Daraa Al-Saad, and Daraa Camp districts of the provincial capital.

Meanwhile, in western Daraa, the Syrian Arab Army had a big day after the rebel defenses around the town of Tafas fully collapsed.

Led by 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Army began the day by capturing the strategic hilltop of Tal Ashari, which overlooks Tafas from its western axis.

Following the loss of Tal Ashari, the rebels were ultimately forced to accept a reconciliation deal in Tafas, as the town was under the Syrian Army’s fire control.

The Syrian Army is now shifting their attention to the western countryside of the Daraa Governorate.

According to a field source in Sheikh Miskeen, the Tiger Forces have begun moving to the western Daraa front, as they prepare to lead this next phase of the offensive.

With the provincial capital nearly captured, the Syrian Army should be dedicating most of their military resources to the western Daraa front in the coming days.
