BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) – The Free Syrian Army (FSA) unfurled a large banner of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in front of their flag and the Turkish flag in northern Syria this week.

The FSA unfurled the banner to celebrate Erdogan’s latest victory in the Turkish presidential election.

According to Turkey-based Yeni Safak, raised the banner over Mount Darmik in the Afrin region, which was a former stronghold for the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Mount Darmik was a predominately Kurdish populated part of the Afrin region; however, once the YPG was expelled, the Turkish-backed rebels imposed their authority over the area.
