BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:35 P.M.) – The foreign jihadist group, the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP), released a video on May 14th that chronicled the Soviet-Afghan War (1979-1989) and the losses suffered by the Soviet Union at that time.

In the video that was released via their official Telegram Sawt Al-Islam (Voice of Islam), the Turkestan Islamic Party narrated a 20-minute-long video that not only chronicled the Soviet-Afghan War but also showcased the jihadist group’s strength and their plans.

The Turkestan Islamic Party threatened Russia with a Soviet-Afghan-like war scenario in which they would suffer heavy casualties at the hands of the mujaheddine.

Towards the latter part of the video, the jihadist group showed footage of their fighters near the front-lines in the Jabal Al-Akrad(Kurdish Mountains) and Jabal Turkmen (Turkmen Mountains) region of northern Latakia.

The Turkestan Islamic Party is considered one of the most powerful jihadist groups currently operating inside of Syra.

Alongside their allies from Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, the Turkestan Islamic Party has managed to maintain control of several areas inside both the Latakia and Idlib governorates.

As of now, the Turkestan Islamic Party is heavily concentrated along the Idlib-Latakia axis; they are also leading the defense around the strategic city of Jisr Al-Shughour near the Turkish border.

Huhu, this is not the pattern in place in Syria.
In fact, you have Turkey+Qatar, not Turkey+USA
USA won’t acknowledge it, but Qatar+Turkey took advantage of their good relations with them to schmooze the Yankees.
Pompeo even recently said that Yankees were positive into supporting Bashat al-Assad’s presidency would he drop his alliance with Iran and Hezbo.

With all due respect Sire, it was the Wahhabi’s like Osama Bin Ladin and other Saudis and Persian Gulf puppet Wahhabi regime citizens that were recruited by the CIA to fight the USSR in Afghanistan. Reagan and Bill Casey (CIA Director) even feted them in the White House and called them the equals of US founding fathers. These are the Jihadi offspring of the CIA in its eternal quest to destroy Russia.

@Gentry Jim, quite right, the same ghazi mercenaries that were recruited for Syria’s pipeline and anti Ba’ath war by the Us Empire’s services and their MB and Wahhabi allies.

It is the Anglo Great Game to confront Russia at the Asian backdoors. Not so new. Only new that the US Empire another of the 5 eyes players took over from GB.

@Fighter, this has been predicted and possibly planned by Russia’s notorious enemies. Russia did not care in the past. And is not likely to care in the future.

And on 600k Soviet militaries involved over 10 years, it’s a 2.33% loss… Any army considers that as long as you don’t go over 7% losses, that’s OK

More young dead on the roads, than in Vietnam or…

If You look at it from such an callous angle.

@Daeshbags-Sux, yes in the past, when they were able to send the peasant sons. But not nowadays, unless You come from a nation that has 6 plus children per average women.

Today, modern nations have their Légion étrangère or robots to prevent that rate.

But You are right that the Soviets had to give up for economic reasons.

Russia has shown bi-polar tendencies in Syria. It is arming Turkey with the most sophisticated weapons and also cutting deals with these terrorists, that has only emboldened them and their US and Zionist masters. Russia needs to think strategically, rather than try to accommodate its US “partners” who are out to get Russian.

+++ “Russia has shown bi-polar tendencies in Syria” => Not really… “Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer”, hehe… +++ “It is arming Turkey with the most sophisticated weapons” => Not really : The S-400 to be delivered is an “export” version, and so will it be if they deliver Su-57E… +++ “Export variants of Soviet military equipment were versions of Soviet military equipment (armored vehicles, airplanes, missiles) of significantly inferior capability to the original designs and intended only for export. Monkey model was the unofficial designation given by the Soviet Military to such variants” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Export_variants_of_Soviet_military_equipment You’ve surely… Read more »

It is a flawed policy that will haunt Russia as US/Zionist agenda is the destruction of Russia and to use Syria and Ukraine to bleed Russia.

The goal of the Ukrainian mess was, as Vickie Nuland said : “FÜCK THE EU”. You totally missed the point! Russia is NOT the USSR… With a GDP of $1.610 trillion and a $60B military budget, Russia is NOT an issue AT ALL. But what US didn’t liked AT ALL was that EU was into befriending the Russian far too much : North Stream 2, France first selling the Damocles targetting pod’s license to Russia, then two LHDs, and was in talk to sell the FELIN “cyber soldier” gear to Putin while even US SOFs haven’t such equipment. In fact,… Read more »

The Russians use the excuse for “friendship” and economic cooperation with Turkey not to have to end the terrorists in Syria. In fact, they do not want to do it for fear of the US. Every evasion is good, even as lame as a temporary ceasefire. Pathetic.

+++ “That in fact will happen if there is not full offensive on Idlib area, but Russia wants to please Turkey (NATO member).” => The only place Turkey is still NATO is on paper! They think like enemies, talk like enemies, are in bed with our enemies and act like enemies. Moreover, they illegally occupy the third of an EU country, not speaking about threats and even terrorist actions in the EU, e.g. the murder of several Kurds in France and the botched murder attempts in Germany. Hey, Vietnam and India got a waiver on CAATSA law so they buy… Read more »

Well, that is the US warmongers and Zionist parasites agenda in Syria, that is to bleed Russia and bog it down in a long and costly war. The CIA did that quite successfully in 1980’s Afghanistan and the Soviet Union collapsed. Russia needs to start arming Iran and create alliances rather than thinking that Zionists would ever love Russia.

The Soviet Union NEVER collapsed due to Afghanistan! It collapsed due to stupidities done by the regime : 1.) Winning the arms race : just look at the submarines’ boneyards around Murmansk, the tanks boneyard everywhere (they had 65,000 tanks!) and some estimate that at the height, they had 30,000 nuclear warheads… No country can afford such ridiculous spending into its MIC for long. 2.) USSR was implied in all anti-capitalist guerillas/proxy-wars on Earth, not counting many grassroot anticapitalism and pacfist NGOs in the west as much as some terrorist activities (Rötte Armee Fraktion, Action Directe, Brigatte Rosso) and the… Read more »

@Zionism is evil, Daeshbags-Sux is quite right about the economic reasons for the demise of the Soviet system.

Except that the US technology embargo contributed to it.

But he is wrong about the next. There will be never a peace for Russia or any major nation without paying tribute to the US Empire which is like the Zionist view based on supremacism.

With Islam he correctly narrates the opinion of the Jihadi. That is why Jihadists must be by all treated in the way they want to treat others.

Soviets didn’t suffered heavy casualties : these were only about the 10th over 10 years (14,453) that they inflicted to “militants” in Syria over 4 years (135k in 2018 so we’re likely over 145k now). With more than 600k troops deployed in Afgha over 10 years, it’s a 2.33% losses figure. At this time, USSR even had a population on par with USA, US lost 50k in Vietnam over 11 years. Now, when it comes to aircraft losses, well, 118 aircraft and 333 chopers is also far from the 3,200 aircraft and near 5,500 choppers USA lost in Vietnam… In… Read more »
