BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:40 P.M.) – In a very recent interview with CBS News, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman stated that his country would develop a nuclear bomb if key regional rival Iran did so.

‘Saudi Arabia does not want to acquire any nuclear bomb, but without a doubt, if Iran developed a nuclear bomb, we will follow suit as soon as possible,’ the Saudi royal said.

Iranian diplomatic officials have already responded to Crown Prince Salman’s statement, calling it ‘completely worthless’ in a new era where ‘Iranophobia has become a failed policy.’

The statement by the Saudi Crown Prince comes amid renewed uncertainties over the future of Iran nuclear deal in addition to concerns by Western and Gulf State nations over recent Iranian achievements in the development of ballistic missiles.
