BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:41 P.M.) – The Russian military has cryptically – yet very clearly – threatened to attack US warships and warplanes which conduct missile strikes that threaten its forces in Syria.

In the latest statement to be made by Russian military officials over possible US strikes against Syrian government forces, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, General Valery Gerasimov, stated:

‘In case there is a threat to the lives of our military [by US missile strikes], the Russian Armed Force will take retaliatory measures both over the missiles and carriers that will use them.’

The reference to ‘carriers’ though vague is still quite clear. Gerasimov is talking about US warships and aircraft that fire the ‘missiles’ against Syrian government targets and de facto threaten the lives of Russian service personnel stationed on duty in the Arab republic.

Better to take seriously what Russia is saying. It looks like that Israel-USA-NATO have reached Russia limit of tolerance. Let us see if this is true.

Best first response would be a couple of thermobarics on al-Tanf and al-Zuqf.
Limited, but effective in eliminating a looming threat. Kills lots of jihadis and some secretly embedded Americans.
It’ll show the Americans the Russians mean business and that next would be the sinking of a couple of ships in the Med if the Americans continue. And, of course, S-400s against any overflying hostile American planes.

Sounds clear enough to me. The moment the US launches missiles against Syria, Russia will take out the missiles (using S-400 and Pantsir i guess) as well as the ships from which they were launched, which will be a good demonstration of the effectiveness of the Kinzhal.

US has been warned.

5 days to Russia presidential elections. Putin doesn’t want mess-ups.
Once re-elected… maybe more surprises coming.

Exactly! He will be able to clean house of all 5th columnists and prepare more effectively for the new war that America clearly wants. I think any response to the Americans will be measured until Putin has his plans in place.

Normally I am against! war! – but on a rough CHUNK needs a big wedge! And I am waiting also for the first US-carrier sunk by a russian rocketbomb. There are only 10 US-carriers worldwide – and I think that ist anyway too much!
May be that russians would erase all the remaining ILLEGAL US-staff in Syria!?

Sinking all 10 in one swift go would be nice to witness

Not worldwide, they are all in the main ports or deep in their own or allied waters. They do not have the courage to send them into hot areas. Many military analysts comment that this is the first time since the WWII that the Americans have withdrawn from the worldwide tasks almost all of their aircraft carriers.

Actually, US aircraft carriers have 50% availability, so only half are at sea while the other half are in maintenance. Sometimes, you can have up to 7 at sea, but from time to time, you may also end with 7 in maintenance.

Haley threatened Syria yesterday, today Russia answers back. Typical politics. Western media never reports when “moderate” jihadists hideouts are full of chemical weapons like they found yesterday in East Ghouta. Misinformation by American press is the tried and true course, even CNBC anchor laughed at Americans that they lie and they all believe.

Wishful thinking here. Read what was said. Only in the case of endangerment to RUSSIAN MILITARY will Russia attack in response.
