BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:35 P.M.) – A soldier from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) was killed near the Gaza border, tonight, after hostilities intensified by the latter and Palestinians.
According to the IDF Spokesperson, an Israeli soldier was killed by sniper fire near the southern border of the Gaza Strip.
“Today an IDF combat soldier was killed during operational activity near the southern Gaza Strip. A terrorist squad shot at IDF troops and the IDF soldier was severely injured. He later succumbed to his wounds. His family has been notified,” the IDF Spokesperson tweeted this evening.
The IDF soldier killed tonight is the first Israeli soldier to be killed near the Gaza border since the latter’s 2014 operation in this region.
The death of the IDF soldier comes after four Palestinians were killed by and Israeli airstrike over the Gaza Strip tonight.
