Homs, Syria (6:05 P.M.) – A 48 hour ceasefire has been implemented in the only jihadist-controlled district of Homs city today after a violent exchange between the government and jihadist forces.
According to the government’s statement, both parties agreed to end the hostilities in the Al-Wa’er District for no less than 48 hours, starting at midnight on Tuesday.
Rumors around the provincial capital indicate that the jihadist rebels of Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham (formerly Jabhat Al-Nusra) will hand over the Al-Wa’er District in exchange for transportation to the Idlib Governorate.
Over 400 militants still remain inside the Al-Wa’er District, along with some of their family members that live in the civilian buildings.
